Touch the Earth, Remember Who You Are

Finding Grace in the Ordinary
“Do not act as if you were going to live ten thousand years. Death hangs over you. While you live, while it is in your power, be good.” -Marcus Aurelius
This JoySprout is designed to bring you back into your body, into the present moment, and into appreciation for what is real and near. Grounding honors your human experience by connecting you to your senses, your breath, and the truth that this moment is a gift. Gratitude becomes easier to access when you slow down and notice the simple, ordinary miracles happening right now.
Pause and Arrive
Stop what you're doing and settle into a comfortable position. Take three slow, deliberate breaths. Feel the weight of your body supported by whatever is beneath you.
Engage Your Senses
Gently bring your awareness to your surroundings:
• What do you see? Notice the light, the colors, the shapes.
• What do you hear? Let sounds come and go without judgment.
• What do you feel? The temperature, texture, clothing, air, or the weight of your body.
• What do you smell? The room, the outdoors, your coffee, or nothing at all.
• What do you taste? The remnants of a sip, the air, or simply your breath.
Offer Gratitude
Inwardly say “thank you” to each sense that awakened your awareness. Thank the ground for holding you, your breath for sustaining you, and this moment for existing exactly as it is.
Anchor the Insight
In your JoySprout Journal, briefly reflect on:
• What did you notice when you slowed down?
• What softened or shifted in your body or thoughts?
• How does remembering that life is temporary deepen your gratitude?
Carry this awareness into your day. Gratitude is not a mood—it is a muscle. Every time you pause, notice, and appreciate, you strengthen your capacity to be fully alive.
