The Obstacle Is the Way and is the Point

Re frame obstacles as opportunities for growth and skill-building, proactively engaging with challenges to transform frustration into resilience.

When Life Gives You Lemons… Do a Stoic Workout

"The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way" -Marcus Aurelius. Identify some challenges that you currently face. Choose just one. Try to think of it not as a stumbling block but as an opportunity to hone your skills, build resilience, and develop character. You have been preparing yourself, and now is the time to put your skills to the test. Instead of dwelling on the problem, think about the action or goal itself. What would resolve the situation? How could that happen? Let yourself think of the most ridiculous ways this issue could be solved. Think about one that is so ridiculous that you laugh at the solution. Continue and ask yourself what hard and soft skills you are learning? Is it building your resilience muscle, or finding solutions despite limitations? Act on what is in front of you. Now take a step toward the solution, no matter how tiny. What would you suggest a friend do? Look at the plan. It can only succeed if you take actionable steps yourself and continue to take steps. Remember to look back from time to time to see how far you have come. This will inspire you to continue. The dreams you are bringing to fruition may not be easy, but they can be built when you actively deal with the frustration one step at a time. Remember that obstacles create opportunities. Without them, you miss that spark that encourages further engagement.
