Reaction Control

Master your responses to external events. Recognize the space between stimulus and reaction, and choose a response rooted in reason, not emotion, promoting tranquility amidst chaos.

Pause and Reflect

Throughout the day, pay close attention to your reactions to events, especially those that trigger strong emotions. When you feel anger, frustration, or anxiety rising, consciously PAUSE. Take a deep breath. Remind yourself that you have a choice in how you respond. Ask yourself: "Is this situation within my control? If not, is there value in getting upset?" Reflect on the underlying judgment that fueled your reaction. Was it accurate and reasonable? Write about your observations and the specific techniques you used to control your reactions. Over time, you'll strengthen your ability to respond with wisdom and equanimity, rather than knee-jerk emotion. Remember, you control your mind, not external events.
